Had high expectations, and, this workshop ticked all the boxes!
I attended a 3 day kundalini yoga workshop organised by Anuja Sharma at her home in Bhimtal. I had always wanted to attend something like this in the hills , had high expectations, and , this workshop ticked all the boxes !
From the time one woke up to when one went to bed at night , the day was planned with activities at just the right pace .
The early morning yoga was energising , as was the freshly made smoothie that followed . The refreshing drives to different forests for forest bathing, meditating or simply walking in the picturesque hills were beautiful .
Some meals- simple and delicious – were at home ; while some were organised in calm spaces such as that in Kasardevi ; and there were fun ones, too, such as that in an old cafe in Nainital .
Back at home , we had time to chat and reflect inwards.
In short , it was a perfect three days , away from our mundane lives, practising and living all things associated with yoga – just what our busy minds needed !

I was tricked into Anuja’s Yoga Retreat at Bhimtaal by a friend in the guise of week long vacation. I was given an option to sit out and cover my beauty sleep, but then I thought, when with fellow Yogis do what the Yogis do! And man, I don’t regret a single minute of the 3 day retreat we had. Anuja is a fantastic teacher, and also a genuinely lovely person. Her kindness and empathy carry her instructions to a new level of benefit, especially for awkward souls like myself. Her directions are clear and precise so you’re not looking up to check you’re doing the right thing, and she’s very observant, constantly checking your posture. She lets you know how far to go in a pose if you have injuries/weaknesses, which is really helpful. She also pays individual attention to people in the class. Her classes are truly for all levels, be it breathing exercises, forest walks or meditations by the lakes or in deep wood, you will for sure come out relaxed. Her retreat was really well organised, in awesome locations, with great company, and worth every penny. Her classes are energising and fun. I really liked the meditations, it made me feel very relaxed and centered. What a wonderful way to rejuvenate, not only the daily amazing yoga & meditation sessions, but the food, weather and most of all the company. I don’t think I have laughed so much in years, and that is the honest truth. If you have never been on one of Anuja’s Yoga Retreats, then you need to book on the next one.

Aarushi joined our first online kundalini yoga class in March of 2023. I am immensely grateful to her for her trust and faith in a new teacher. Many blessings to her for she allowed me to grow into the teacher I am today. Since we were both in Lucknow a lot those days, we did in-person alignment and Iyengar yoga classes as well. She had a knee injury when we started, and kudos to youthful energy and determination, she just finished an on stage dance performance in Mumbai in July of 2024.
